English Language Course & Programme for Age 50+ - with 'Rosamunde Pilcher' theme

11 June - 22 June 2012

The School offers a communicative course in English language for people who are aged 50+ and who have experiences to share. You will use the language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening to review the past and look forward to the future. The course includes a social programme suitable for the more mature student with cultural trips, excursions, and activities.

Literary Connections:

The south west of England has been the inspiration for many writers, for example, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, John Fowles and Rosamunde Pilcher, and the area has featured in many films and TV programmes.

Rosamunde Pilcher

SIS has arranged a programme with a literary theme in which some of the locations used by the writer in her novels are visited. Rosamunde Pilcher was born in Cornwall and spent her childhood there and many of her stories are set in the dramatic countryside of this part of England. The SIS programme includes a weekend trip to Cornwall to visit some of the places described in the books.
NB If a student doesn not wish to take part in this weekend trip they can join the normal Saturday adult excursion
