We provide high quality language teaching for all our students at all levels. The courses follow a communicative syllabus which includes a balance of grammar, vocabulary and functional English. Our experienced and qualified teachers use a wide range of materials to enable the student to improve their language skills, communicate effectively and gain greater understanding of English culture.

First day test to ensure correct class level (6 levels of English)

Combination Courses

GENERAL ENGLISH + ONE-TO-ONE

As the General English course plus 6 lessons of one-to-one tuition per week (26 lessons: 19.5 hours). One-to-one lessons can include General English, ESP (English for Business etc.) or EAP (English for Academic Purposes).

INTENSIVE ENGLISH + ONE-TO-ONE
As the Intensive English course plus 6 lessons of one-to-one tuition per week (34 lessons: 25.5 hours). One-to-one lessons can include General English, ESP (English for Business etc.) or EAP (English for Academic Purposes).

Courses for Overseas Teachers of English

Sidmouth International School is an active teacher training centre and offers developmental courses for native-speaker and non-native-speaker teachers of English.

CAMBRIDGE TKT COURSES
We are a Cambridge examinations centre and offer courses leading to the Teaching Knowledge Test modules.

Courses cover the wide range of language awareness and methodology areas in the TKT syllabus. Closed group courses can be specially designed to include a particular focus on teaching Young Learners and/or on CLIL.

Courses for individual teachers of English

We offer courses for individual teachers of English all year round. Minimum one week. Language and/or methodology development courses designed to meet the specific needs of teachers.

Courses for qualified and experienced teachers of English
Courses for teachers still training

Language development in mixed-nationality groups, 15 hours per week. Specialist ELT sessions 6 hours per week. Class observations and follow-up discussions can be arranged. Total 21 hours per week.

Accommodation

Our homestay families only take students from SIS so we can guarantee: no other students of the same nationality; no overcrowding; no junior students.

Most homestays are within walking distance of the School. Breakfast and evening meal included, with light lunch at weekends. SIS can also recommend suitable hotels, guest houses and self-catering apartments.

Transfers

Transfers to and from London Heathrow Airport or other ports of entry can be arranged by SIS. Experienced School drivers will meet students at arrivals gate, and assist with check-in on departure. Free escorted school bus service on Saturdays, Heathrow – Sidmouth – Heathrow (the School can in no way be held responsible for any late arrivals or departures).

DEPARTURES: Arrives Heathrow at 12:00 approximately

Average journey time 2.5 hours

Regular shuttle buses link Gatwick to Heathrow Airport every 15 minutes (journey time 90 min) and also link Stansted to Heathrow Airport every 30 minutes (journey time 105 min).
